The education system on the island is built on the British standard, and diplomas from local private schools open the doors to the world’s top universities (Russell Group, Ivy League).
However, the situation in 2026 requires strategic planning: tuition fees have risen by an average of 5-10%, and available places in Limassol have become scarce.
Ranking of the Best English Schools in 2026
We divided the schools by city and key features so it is easier for you to navigate.
Limassol: The Expat Epicenter
The Heritage Private School — the best choice for well-rounded development. A huge campus, modern laboratories, and a strong focus on academic results.
Foley’s Grammar School — an "old school" in the best sense of the word. High discipline and some of the highest A-Level scores on the island.
Silverline Private School — a leader in early years development and individualized approach.
Nicosia: Academic Elite
The English School — the most prestigious and oldest school, and extremely hard to get into (strict entrance exams).
The Junior & Senior School — high teaching standards and an excellent IB Diploma program.
Paphos and Larnaca: Balance of Price and Quality
International School of Paphos (ISOP) — the only school with a boarding option and an excellent multicultural environment.
American Academy (Larnaca) — a historic institution with a strong reputation and ties to British universities.

Tuition Fees in 2026
Prices depend on the child’s age. On average, Primary school costs 30-40% less than upper grades (Sixth Form).
Average annual fees (2026-2027):
School | Primary (Year 1-6) | Secondary (Year 7-13) | Registration fee |
Foley's School | €8,400 – €10,200 | €10,950 – €11,850 | €1,800 |
The Heritage | €7,500 – €9,400 | €10,500 – €12,300 | €500 - €1,000 |

The Junior School | €8,200 – €9,100 | €9,400 – €17,150* | €500+ |
*Note: In top schools in Nicosia and Limassol, the IB (International Baccalaureate) program may require an additional fee of €7,000–€8,000 per year.
Queues and Waiting Lists: The Reality of 2026
If you are reading this article and planning to start school in September 2026 — you should have acted yesterday.
Limassol: Waiting lists at Foley’s and Heritage in some grades (especially Year 1-3) range from 1 to 2 years.
Entrance tests: You cannot simply "buy" a place. Almost all schools require English and math exams (Assessment Fee — about €120).
Reservation Deposit: To secure a place for your child, schools require a non-refundable deposit of about €1,000 already in January-February of the current year.
Checklist for Parents Before Submitting Documents
Apostille: All documents (birth certificate, report cards from the previous school) must be translated into English and apostilled.
Age cutoff: Cyprus has strict age rules. In 2026, Primary (Year 1) admits children who turn 5 before September 1.
Additional expenses: Budget an extra +€1,500–€2,500 per year for uniforms, textbooks, school bus (€100-160/month), and extracurricular clubs.
Expert tip: If there are no places at your chosen school in Limassol, consider schools in Paphos or the suburbs. Distances in Cyprus are small, and the quality of education in ISOP or Aspire remains high with slightly less competition.
This video review will help you visually assess the campus and infrastructure of one of the island’s most in-demand schools, which is important for making a relocation decision.
Education as an Investment in the Future
Despite current waiting lists, the situation is beginning to improve. The Minister of Education, Sports and Youth of Cyprus, Athina Michaelidou, in her recent speeches on the launch of the education strategy through 2035, emphasized that the government has made education one of its top priorities.
